community programs

Community Engagement

  • Save Our Streams (SOS)

Getting folks into lakes, streams, and rivers of our region to monitor macroinvertebrates and chemistry in order to learn what health looks like and if a system is at risk.

  • Swamp Oak Wanderers (SOW)

Offering community science projects that uplift and protect local ecosystems, and exploring nature through art, foraging, conservation, and native plant restoration.

  • Crooked Slough Sugar Bush

Inviting the community, families, and school groups to be in the floodplain forest and enjoy one of the sweetest gifts, maple syrup. Knowing that many hands make for light work, the community is invited to be part of the whole process - from tree tapping to syrup finishing.

Youth programs

  • Prairie Island Adventure Club (PIAC)

Engaging elementary-aged youth in building community and connections with nature through experiential social emotional learning opportunities in the outdoors and on adventures.

  • Youth Green Crew

Engaging middle and high school-aged youth in becoming leaders in stewardship through connecting with core values, adventure, learning about how to take action in conservation, and being part of engaging community in that process.
